Kira Kira  is the Newbery Award Winner.  It is an amazing coming of age novel.  It depicts a life of Japanese-American girl Katie who moved to Georgia with her family. The family encounter discrimination, racism,  and exploitation.  Though she lives in a volatile time, she overcomes challenges and learns what Kira Kira truly means.
